Colbert Roasts Rep. Westmoreland

Colbert Report is a great show on Comedy Central. This is thoughtful comedy. If you’re not thinking you will not get it. Period. Colbert plays a talk show host. He is a parody of O’Reilly and Hannity who act like their opinions and their lifes are far more important than whatever story they are covering. So, he plays someone who is more right wing than Bush or Cheney. Yet, the parody shows how crazy many of their arguments truly are.

Colbert sits down with Representative Lynn Westmoreland. Westmoreland proposes to put the 10 Commandments in public buildings.

Colbert asks Westmoreland if he could think of any better place to put the 10 Commandents. Westmoreland was unable to think of any better place. He was unable to think of ….a church!! The grand slam was Colbert asking Rep. Westmoreland, who believes that the 10 Commandments are very important to his life and everyone’s life, to name all ten of the 10 Commandments. He could only name three. (Isn’t 3 out of 10 an F?)

Ron Suskind’s New Book previewed

The 1% Doctrine is the new book by Ron Suskind.  He wrote The Price of Loyality which was one of the first political books that I read in beginning the research for my book.  A brief summary is available on Time.com

one%20percent%20book%20cover Ron Suskinds New Book previewed

Mr. Suskind jumps in the world of US Intellignece.  Oh, Bush is going to mad…again.

He reveals that we DO have informants within Al Qaeda.  This is the first time that I’m aware of this fact.  I thought that we had to but I was never able to find any evidence.  Suskind reveals an Al Qaeda plot to gas the NY subways.  The plot was cooked up back in 2003.  Al Qaeda had even developed a delivery device.  For reasons that are unclear the operation was called off by Bin Laden’s #2 man.

Wow!!  There is going to be a huge buzz about this on Monday and the Sunday talk shows.  I will get the book as soon as I can.

There is a couple things that can be said about the small amount of information that has been printed.

  • We were not prepared for any type of major attack in 2003.
  • We really aren’t prepared now.
  • Didn’t Homeland Security cut the funding to New York City by 40% this year?
  • This is going to have the talking heads on both sides flapping their lips.  They now have something REAL to talk about
  • Border security has to get serious in this country!
