Who’s in Charge?

There is a ton of stuff going on in the world today.  There’s almost so much confusion and violence it is almost impossible know where to start.  Israel has invaded Lebanon.  The Beirut airport has been bombed.  Operation “together forward” appears to be a complete and total disaster as violence escalates in Iraq.  Iran has told us in essence you can take your deadline and… North Korea continues to develop its missile technology.  The six party talks have been almost as effective as me yelling out my window with a megaphone to North Korea, “Please stop making nuclear weapons.  I’m very serious this time.  I mean it.”

On the domestic front, the news is in much better. Gas prices are up in with the instability in the Middle East one can expect in gas prices to continue to climb for the foreseeable near future. Wilson and Plame are suing the Vice President and other White House officials.  Robert Novak who went underground for months after walking off a CNN set is suddenly back.  He was on 7 different programs on Wednesday.  Seven.  He announced that he was going to reveal his main source.  His lips flapped but the main source was not revealed.  Billions of dollars were cut last week from the federal student loan programs in order to balance the budget which is no where near being balanced.  We found out that our deficit for 2006 is only going to be $296 Billion this year.  That’s the 4th largest deficit in history.  All of the top 5 largest deficits have occurred on President Bush’s watch.  The Bin Laden unit has been dismantled.  So….

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is getting very ugly out there.

  1. Today on fox news it was shown that the Lebanese Prime Minister is asking for help and is “facing the threat of a real annihilation…” Those were his words, not mine. So what will this mean now? Will Syria be the next target? The Syrian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that “…would be an aggression on the whole Islamic world…” World war three anyone? Staying the course does not seem to be working and can the US really handle any more crises? Are we going to be caught in the middle of a Lebanon/israel war or watch lebanon be destroyed as a result of a weak government? Iraq has yet to gain control of its own government much less become strong, and we have been watching that country destroy itsepf! All that we are seeing is proffits soaring for Halliburton, the carlyle group, oil companies, millionaires, weapons makers. There has been over 300 billion dollars spent already with more being spent every day, especially with the reorginization of the army. And where is this money going? The US, all of the Middle east, and lets not forget Darfur, and also the Sudan, are all in a state of perpetual instability, conflict, and insecurity with no end in sight. Who else will benefit from all of this? the dead?

  2. I don’t think that Israel has any intention of invading Syria. Now, if they know where weapons are stored for Hezbollah, they will bomb that target. Otherwise, they will pull back in the 24 - 48 hours if they find their soldiers.

Remember instability in the Middle East equals higher gas prices. Soon the American people will start pressuring the administration to be more active in the process (pushing for peace).
