So, is Bin Laden dead or alive?

Former CIA director John McLaughlin chimes in.  Basically, we still know nothing.  Notice how we haven’t heard a peep from the White House.

A Little Chicago

What a fantastic group!!  It was either 1976 or 75 when Chicago and the Doobie Brothers toured together.  Now, that would have been a great concert to record. BTW, dig the hair, man.

Clinton’s advice to Bush

Olbermann poses a very unlikely question.  Suppose Bush called you for advice?  What would you tell him?  Fix the Israel-Palestine problem.  You should look like we (the US) prefer cooperation over unilateralism.

That’s off the top of his head.  When was the last time that Bush say something that was half as thoughtful?

Bin Laden Dead?

Wow, this story came out of nowhere.  So, is Bin Laden dead or alive?  Would the Bush administration tell us?  Can we trust the Bush Administration to tell us that their golden goose maybe dead?

Olbermann - Clinton Global Initiative

$7.3 Billion in pledges.  Let’s think and discuss.  What a concept?!?!?  President Clinton reminds me of a time when I admired the intelligence of the president.

Hurricane Pam Summary

globalsecurity Hurricane Pam Summary

“I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.”
President Bush, ABC’s “Good Morning America” Thursday September 1, 2005

On Saturday September 3, 2005, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff called the disaster “breathtaking in its surprise. … That ‘perfect storm’ of a combination of catastrophes exceeded the foresight of the planners, and maybe anybody’s foresight… ”

Hurricane Pam brought sustained winds of 120 mph, up to 20 inches of rain in parts of southeast Louisiana and storm surge that topped levees in the New Orleans area. More than one million residents evacuated and Hurricane Pam destroyed 500,000-600,000 buildings.

In July 2004 Emergency officials from 50 parish, state, federal and volunteer organizations faced this scenario during a five-day exercise held at the State Emergency Operations Center in Baton Rouge.

The exercise used realistic weather and damage information developed by the National Weather Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the LSU Hurricane Center and other state and federal agencies to help officials develop joint response plans for a catastrophic hurricane in Louisiana.

Volunteer organizations joined emergency officials from Federal, State and local jurisdictions in exercise Hurricane Pam. The exercise consisted of a Category 3 Hurricane with sustained winds of 120 mph, up to 20 inches of rain, and the evacuation of more than 1 million people from 13 Parishes in Louisiana.

During the eight-day tabletop exercise, over 250 emergency preparedness officials from more than 50 federal, state and local agencies and volunteer organizations used this catastrophic scenario to develop a recovery plan for the 13 parishes in the New Orleans area. [Read more →]

Crosby raising money for slavery museum

Bill Cosby on Friday called on each American to contribute $8 to help build a bill_cosby Crosby raising money for slavery museumnational slavery museum amid the battlefields of the Civil War.

Cosby, who already has committed $1 million to the project, joined Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder on Friday in launching a new campaign to raise $100 million toward the Fredericksburg museum’s $200 million price tag.

“The incentive is that they would join in with the rest of the United States of America in saying yes, as an American, I gave $8 to help build something that tells the story,” he said in a teleconference with Wilder.

In a nation of some 300 million people, even a tepid response would surpass the $100 million goal, Cosby said.

He admitted this kind of campaign “generally fails badly.”

“But I’m going to try again because I’m going to present this national slavery museum as a jewel that’s missing in a crown.”

The campaign marks the latest attempt at fundraising for the U.S. National Slavery Museum, a project in the works for more than a decade.  more
