Countdown: Habeas Corpus

Although this may be a little too much tongue-in-cheek, it makes an excellent point.

Why hasn’t Bush signed the detainee bill?  He wanted it right away.  Is this part of his October presentation (surprise)?

Habeas Corpus is a basic right.  I’m not sure how anyone can be denied that right.  Especially anyone in the US!

Countdown’s Tribute to Buck O’Neil

A little long but very nice nonetheless.

Baker on TDS

James Baker is a very polished act.  He has been Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and Chief of Staff.

Also, although Jon Stewart is a comedian he does seem to ask some thoughtful questions in a way that does not embarrass or “get in the face” of his guests.  He’s gotten some absolutely fabulous guest of the last couple weeks.

More information on the Congressman Foley scandal

More and more information is coming out that Congressman Mark Foley can not only e-mail or instant message one or two pages.  This is something that he has done since he’s been in office or so it does appear.  Yesterday, on the Ed Schultz show, a mother of a former page called up and stated she complained about Congressman Foley back in the mid-90s.  She stated that her complaints were loud and thorough.  She notified her own congressman’s office.  She notified the office of pages.  She got no response or more correctly, she got no meaningful response from anyone she contacted.  This is the problem.  It appears that no Republican took any significant action to try to control Congressman Mark Foley.  Even if all he did was send inappropriate e-mails, he should’ve been monitored and e-mails should have stopped.  This is the very least that should have been done.

North Korea cowers to American pressure; NOT

Someone, please give me one example of how diplomacy by the Bush White House has worked anywhere around the world.  On the other hand, we have plenty examples of its failure.  Yesterday, we have yet another example as North Korea performs a nuclear test.
