Bob Woodruff’s return

Bob Woodruff was injured a little over a year ago in Iraq.  We had little information or at least I didn’t read much information about his injuries.  All that I knew was that he had a terrible brain injury.  I deal with brain injured patients every day.  It didn’t sound good.  Not good at all.

He has made a remarkable recovery.  I will post a series of videos which he has put together about his story and the story of Traumatic Brain Injury.

MTP - Roy Wilkins and Martin Luther King, part 3

This is an amazing interview.  I huge piece of history.  Martin Luther King was a Black leader but not THE Black leader at this time.  This interview takes place just before the March on Washington in August of 1963 and just before the I Have a Dream speech.  Take some time and think about the questions that these thoughtful reporters are asking.  It is my opinion that they are reflecting the fears of the country.

Remarkable interview.

Ann Coulter thinks John Edwards is gay?

I don’t even know where to start with this one, so we’ll just let her speak for herself.

She was addressing the American Conservative Union PAC on Friday, and while I was skimming past CSPAN, I saw part of the meeting, but turned it off because I hadn’t taken any Zantac that morning. Turns out I should have stayed tuned for this doozy.

Can’t wait to see whether this attracts even a fraction of the media attention that John Kerry got for his attempt at humor before the last election. This was far more virulent, and could rightfully be labeled as hate-speech.

Jam

Michael Jackson’s last CD or release that was any good.  This was before he spent day after day in court stating, “I didn’t do anything.”  Anyway, nice video.  I’m thinking any time you can get Heavy D and Michael Jordan in the same video that’s a good video.

The Errington Thompson Show 2/17/07

I’m staying with the opening segment called Things that make you go… These are items that are odd, funny or head cracking. I interview Joe Cirincione from the Center for American Progress about the North Korean deal. Joe and I have chatted on the Errington Thompson before. He laid out a map back in October of how we could get an agreement. The Bush administration has followed his advice. (BTW, Joe has a new book out called Bomb Scare: The history and future of nuclear weapons. I’ll have Joe back on the show to discuss his new book.) I interview a good friend of mine Harry Wilkins, MD. Harry is a trauma surgeon and we discuss what he is seeing in his patients. Are they able to afford their medications? How is the economy doing? Finally, I give a shout out to the Dixie Chicks. They collected a few Grammys and continue to stand strong.

Remember I’m on iTunes and several other podcasting services.

New Poll - Everyone jumping the Prez’ ship

cbs-nyt-poll-on-president New Poll - Everyone jumping the Prez ship

CBS-NYT poll reveals that the President continues playing the game of how low can you go. BTW, who are the 10% that are undecided?
———-

In the months since the Congressional elections, President Bush has lost substantial support among members of his own party, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.

Mr. Bush’s approval rating dropped 13 percentage points since last fall among Republicans, 65 percent of whom now say they approve of the way he is handling his job as president, compared with 78 percent last October.

Over all, Mr. Bush’s job approval remains at one of its lowest points, with 29 percent of all Americans saying they approve of the way he is doing his job, compared with 34 percent at the end of October. Sixty-one percent disapproved, compared with 58 percent in October, within the margin of sampling error.

Twenty-three percent of those polled approved of the way Mr. Bush is dealing with the situation in Iraq. Twenty-five percent approved of his handling of foreign policy.

Even the president’s campaign against terrorism, long his signature issue, is seen positively by only 40 percent of those polled, while 53 percent disapprove.

Three-quarters of those polled say things are going badly for the United States in Iraq, and only 23 percent say the efforts to bring stability and order to Iraq are going well.

Seventy percent, including 52 percent of Republicans, say there is not much the United States military can do to reduce the sectarian fighting in Iraq.

Over all, 23 percent of the public say the country is going in the right direction and 68 percent see it as “on the wrong track.”

The nationwide telephone poll was conducted Friday through Tuesday with 1,281 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. The margin of sampling error for Republicans is plus or minus five percentage points.
