Iraq: Compare then to now
Jeane Moos usually does the light hearted stuff. Comparing what Bush and Co. said then to now isn’t really that light hearted.

He lays it out.
She knew it was going to be tough? Really? Well, she should have told the president and Secretary Rumsfeld. Remember Rumsfeld’s “the war could last 6 days, 6 weeks but I doubt 6 months.” Remember that one.
I’m not sure how anyone can justify the expense of this war either in the number of life’s lost or injured. Remember Paul Wolfowitz telling us, “There’s a lot of money to pay for this that doesn’t have to be U.S. taxpayer money, and it starts with the assets of the Iraqi people…and on a rough recollection, the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years…We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon.” Latest estimates that I have seen will place the cost of this war over one trillion dollar. Trillion. Alan Larson from the State Department was the one who threw out the $1.7 billion. Total. Now, 4 years into the war we spend about $1.7 billion per week.
