President vetos war funding bill

President Bush is in a interesting position. He is so unpopular he really can’t get much lower. All he has, all he is holding on to, is the fact that history will prove him correct in the long run. NOT. There is no way. But he continues to believe. He continues to hope just as I continue to hope that I win the lottery. Both are equally likely. Well, I think that I have better chance of winning the lottery than Bush does of history treating him kindly.

Exactly what mission was accomplished?

Yep, it was 4 years ago today that Sargent Pepper landed on the aircraft carrier.  Do you know the purpose of that landing?  On one hand, it was to show the American people that we had won.  On the other hand, it was a signal to our allies that they could join the party.  The reconstruction could begin.  All of those countries like France and Germany who wouldn’t join the coalition of the willing could now join in the profits of a stable Iraq.  Well, a funny thing happened on the way to peace, a war broke out.  None of our allies fell for Bush in his flight suit.

We have taken a country where no Al Qaeda, okay, no significant Al Qaeda presence, to a country where Al Qaeda is clearly a player.  How did we do this?  We did this under the lack of leadership of President George W. Bush.

From CNN.com:

New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine was released from the hospital Monday, nearly three weeks after he almost died in a car crash.

“I’m a blessed human being. I could not be more grateful for the support I have had,” he said with his two adult children at his side as he left the hospital in a wheelchair. (more…)
