B-52’s was a band that I hear a lot about but never really heard any of their songs until Love Shack. Everyone was taking about them. They were suppose put on a fantastic concert.

Cheney on an aircraft carrier
Interesting. No major station carried Cheney’s speech on an aircraft carrier except Fox. I was looking for the sound bites from Cheney’s speech. He is always good for something. “We’ll kick ‘em in the teeth or something.” Cheney chose this time to warn Iran that we are going to keep the sea lines open. So, what’s up? It looked like the Bush administration had stopped the tough talk with Iran. I guess they were just taking a breath.
Governor Bill Richardson - cranks it up
There are several folks int he back of the pack of the Democratic race. This clip doesn’t really address why they are at the back. One reason is several of these guys are dull as tears. I believe that Dodd and Biden are very good Senators. Neither of these guys really excite the main stream Democrat. Bill Richardson should excite the main stream Dem. Yes, his speeches could have more feeling and emotion. He could inject some excitement into his speeches. On the other hand, he is clearly the most qualified. He seems to be very thoughtful. I like what I see. I wish I could see more.
Countdown - General John Batiste
VoteVets.org is an organization that is trying to get more veterans elected to office. In the short term they are trying to stop the War in Iraq. They are targeting venerable republicans and running these ads. The strategy is sound. This is a good segment.
General Batiste was a consultant for CBS but CBS fired him for these ads. Their “official” answer was kinda weak.
Economy tanking?
The economic number ain’t looking so good for retail sales. Wal-Mart and Target were down. Cramer tries to explain that things aren’t so bad. I’m not sure that he is correct on this one.

Some of the nation’s largest retailers reported weak same-store sales in April, adding fuel to concerns that retail spending could face a longer-term slowdown if economic woes continue to weigh on consumers.
The weakness cut across a wide swath of retailers, with everyone from discounters like Target and Wal-Mart to department stores such as Macy’s and Kohl’s reporting disappointing results for the four-week period ended May 5. (more…)
CF - Generals speak out
Will the Generals have any effect on policy? My answer is yes but in an indirect way. The public will see that the Bush administration is NOT supporting the troops. The public will force a policy change.
