Debates – Chris Dodd on Gas Prices

Although this is a nice answer, it really isn’t the right answer.  The “right” answer is gas prices are now high and the Congress should do everything that it can to lower prices.  As President I will begin the long process of decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.  Switch grass and corn are only temporary solutions.  Electric cars can be here tomorrow, all we need is the will.

What we need are the cars to be converted for natural gas. That way the cars are really not polluting anymore otherwise we are just passing it down the line. There are only a few conversion kits for selected models on the market. Honda has the only manufactured warranty car out there for US purchase. With 7,000 in tax rebates. We can’t all afford new cars and the old ones will be on the road for a long time. If you can convert the one you have to NG then you have eliminated one more off the road for good. Cleaned the air and save money. Only 76 cents per gallon. I wish I could convert my Elantra to NG. But the more people ask for the kits and the cars then they will get made. PEOPLE HAVE TO SPEAK UP AND DEMAND THE NEW TECHONOLOGY. It is affordable.

Good points here. To which I’ll add bad legislation is not the answer. Automakers are moving toward hybrids, because there is demand for them, and for what I think is capitalized as Alternative Fuel Automobiles.

In fact, today there are already 11 million such vehicles on the great American road. I’ve just started with this group: DriveCongress.com — and I think we’ll have something positive to contribute to the debate.
