Where’s the Outrage?

Iraqi’s are coming up with new tactics to hamper “the surge.” I had Brain Katulis, Middle East expert from the Center for American Progress, on my radio show a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned that the surge isn’t working. We have no plan to deal with the militia’s. The militias are the problem. They have been the problem for the last several years.

3500 of our good, brave soldiers are dead. What a terrible milestone. If they had died defending our country that would be one thing but they died in Iraq, for what? For What?

The government’s new system for trying Guantánamo detainees was thrown into turmoil Monday, when military judges in separate decisions dismissed war crimes charges against two of the detainees.

The rulings, the latest legal setbacks for the government’s effort to bring war crimes charges against detainees, could stall the military’s prosecutions here.

The decisions did not turn on the guilt or innocence of the detainees, but rather made essentially the same determination that the military had not followed procedures to declare the detainees “unlawful enemy combatants,” which is required for the military commission to hear the cases. (more…)

Again another vote falls along party lines.  Why can’t we all agree that Alberto Gonzales isn’t serving the public.  He is serving the White House or better yet, the Republican party.

Bill Moyers takes on the CEO’s.  He focuses on the airlines.  Specifically, he looks at NW Airlines.  The CEO and other execs get bonuses but pilots and flight attendants and mechanics salary cuts of up to 40%.  Their pensions were cut.  The execs got tens of millions of dollars in bonuses and salaries.

Politically-minded individuals take different routes of historical knowledge and personal experience to establish their ideological commitments.

For me, reading about Martin Luther King and Malcolm X was a major part of the political individual I am today.

Experience I would later gain matched some of what I had earlier read.

A point Malcolm X often made was his distrust of white northern liberals. This is what I am in many ways. I’ve lived in Texas for the last nine years and above the Mason-Dixon line for the first 30 years. [Read more →]
