Nearly nine hours later, the 47-year-old gas station owner came back to earth in a farmer’s field near Union, short of Idaho but about 193 miles from home.

“When you’re a little kid and you’re holding a helium balloon, it has to cross your mind,” Couch told the Bend Bulletin. (more…)

Michael Moore vs. CNN

Sicko

Whether you like Michael Moore or not, you have to admit that he starts a conversation. His movies (Fahrenheit 9-11, Bowling for Columbine and Roger and Me, I haven’t seen Sicko yet) are over the top but his data, the information that he is trying to get across is correct. So, Moore goes on CNN last night and Blitzer begins to read industry talking points. Moore smokes him then follows up with a post on his Web site.

Berlin, Moscow, Beijing

It’s just over a year until the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. These Olympics, like the 1936 games in Berlin and the 1980 games in Moscow, will be held in a dictatorship.

After the invasion of Afghanistan, President Jimmy Carter ordered a boycott of the Moscow Olympics. While it’s not on the table for 2008, I’d support the same step for America regarding the Beijing games.

The government of China denies political, religious and other freedoms to over a billion people.

A new book entitled Nazi Games—The Olympics of 1936 by David Clay Large says the German government made significant propaganda gains by holding the Olympics.

Why is the brutal Chinese government being given this same opportunity?
