NAACP jumps into the fray
Posted on July 31st, 2007 by ecthompson
Why? Why would the NAACP have anything to say about Michael Vick? I don’t understand? The Bush Administration rounded up thousands of Muslims after 9/11 and the NAACP were nowhere to be found. Now, they are speaking out about Michael Vick. Someone please help me understand.

I’m sorry. I can’t help you understand.
Love, love, love your blog - you too are going on my roll. Thanks for visiting.
I be sure to come back.
Peace.

I was hoping that you would be able to help me. U clearly think out of the box. I was hopeful that you would shed some ligh on this.
I think it is just that it is “safe” for them to come out with this statement. What are they really saying in that clip, other than, let the courts work through this and don’t convict him before the court does? I don’t think anybody will really argue with that, although I don’t think many people give him much of a chance of escaping this without significant penalty.
I don’t know much about the NAACP structure and how much the top leaders may be pressured by various state chapters, but I would guess that an Atlanta or a Georgia chapter might carry significant clout and might pressure them to say _something_, even if it is something as benign as “let the courts do their jobs”.
It would have been a much more controversial stance to come out against the illegal roundups and charges against Muslim African-Americans following 9-11, than it would to come out in favor of presuming somebody’s innocence until they are proven guilty.
You’ll never get at what really motivated the Atlanta NAACP to take that stand. You might not want to know.
I mean I’m sure it is directed at a future jury.
But below that motive…..I don’t want you to have to hire a lawyer on my account.
You’re probably right. I’ve spend my couple of moments pondering it and have moved on. Too many things already in the world that don’t make sense to me…. This is just another one on the pile.
