The President and Karl Rove on the South Lawn

Never let an opportunity to shape the message and politicize the situation go by. Karl didn’t. Rove called the President a man of “great vision and courage.” (you can comment below.)

Leahy promises to press on with his investigations. John Conyers calls for Rove to come clean.

Although many have called Rove a mastermind and a genesis, he really isn’t. He had the opportunity to make Bush into the greatest modern president but he didn’t. He chose great partisanship over great policy. We are left with a Great dud. Here’s a partial list of Rove’s great predictions which failed to come true.

Nice article in NYT about the Rove Legacy. I think it fits well with the above paragraph on Rove been a mastermind. He isn’t. His failure in the 2006 elections and his complete inability to get Bush’s approval ratings out of the toilet reveal Rove’s failure.

Finally, (knowing that there will be more on this subject later on today and throughout the week) there are rumors that Karl has a book deal. I wonder what the title will be - I can lie better than you, Total contact politics, I blew a 90% approval rating faster than anyone in history, Maybe I am a terd

From AP Wire:

“Karl Rove is moving on down the road,” Bush said. “We’ve been friends for a long time and we’re still going to be friends. Bush looked grim, standing with Rove on the South Lawn. “I would call Karl Rove a dear friend,” Bush said, noting that his own term is running down. “I’ll be on the road behind you here in a bit.”

Rove, his voice quivering at times, said, “I’m grateful to have been a witness to history. It has been the joy and the honor of a lifetime.” (more…)
