The twisted debate

Keith Olbermann does an outstanding job.  Olbermann shows us in chronological order how the Bush Administration dangles the possibility of us removing troops then they tell us just wait.  Just wait for Baker-Hamilton, just wait for all of the troops to get to Iraq, just wait for September, just wait.

Another group wanted to attack a military base

Remember those knuckleheads that wanted to attack Fort Dix. Well, in Germany, there appears to have been another plot to attack a major German Airport and a military base. I’ll have to read more details before I can comment further.

From NYT:

German authorities said Wednesday that they had stopped a major terrorist attack against American and German targets in this country, arresting three Islamic militants and seizing a large amount of potentially explosive chemicals and military-grade detonators.

Those arrested — two German citizens who had converted to Islam and a Turkish resident of Germany — were in the advanced stages of plotting bomb attacks that could have been deadlier than those that killed dozens in London and Madrid, the police and security officials said. From CNN.com:

Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2’s Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday in Italy after suffering from pancreatic cancer, manager Terri Robson said in a statement. He was 71.

“The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth,” according to Robson.

“The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness.”  (more…)
