I don’t know if this report is true. I do know that we haven’t captured any of the top Taliban leaders. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, where is he?

Very sad memories.
So, now, what? What do we need to do to get our America back on track?
Why is there still a hole in the ground at Ground Zero? Where is the leadership to get something built that will be a fitting memory of the victims?

If you are going to run for the Senate, run on the issues. If you are going to run on moral values, you shouldn’t be . . . running around backdoor creepin’. Senator David Vitter is going down. Look for his Republican colleagues to kick him to the curb.

A former New Orleans prostitute who will be featured in Larry Flynt’s Hustler magazine appeared at his office Tuesday to accuse Sen. David Vitter of having a sexual relationship with her in 1999. Wendy Ellis told reporters that Vitter visited her two to three times a week for sexual relations between July and November 1999.
Flynt produced parts of an Aug. 22 polygraph test that he said confirmed her account, but Ellis could provide no financial records, photographs or other evidence to support her assertion that the Louisiana Republican was a client during that time. (more… )

A book signing is planned (5 pm at the Haywood Park Hotel Lobby) and a trip to Drinking Liberally that evening at 7 pm. He will be doing an interview for the Errington Thompson Show.

Countdown - Petraeus
Keith Olbermann carefully dissects General David Petraeus’ report to Capitol Hill yesterday. As I mentioned earlier, nothing new was said. We could have easily predicted nine months ago what General Petraeus said yesterday.

Under the timetable embraced Monday by Gen. David H. Petraeus, the number of American combat brigades would decline by one-fourth by next summer, to 15 in July from 20 now, with the prospect of deeper, if as yet unscheduled, reductions to come.
But such a move would raise the question of how the United States can avert an increase in violence in Iraq while carrying out a gradual drawdown. One approach embraced by many lawmakers would be to modify the American mission to emphasize the training and advising of Iraqi security forces so that Iraqis would be pushed into the lead and a vast majority of American combat troops could be quickly withdrawn.
