Donald Fagen - New Frontier

A completely unique sound.  I first heard Donald Fagen like most person when he was with Steely Dan.  Peg was the first tune that I remember hearing from them.  What a cool sound.  The harmonies.  The groove.  The jazzy sax.  When Steely Dan split Donald Fagen then produced and wrote one of my favorite albums of all-time (Other albums on that list would Stevie Wonder’s Fulfillingness First Finale, Miles Davis - Kind of Blue, I’m sure there are others but that’s all for now) - Night Fly.  This is one of those few albums that call you to but on your Bose headphones and turn it up!

  1. I must congratulate you on your great taste in music . Are you familiar with the earlier Dan albums - Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic, royal Scam?

  2. Louis -

Yes, of course. Donald Fagen hated the recording quality of Katy Lied and tried to stop its release. Aja is a classic probably one of the best albums of all time. Pretzel Logic and Royal Scam were good albums but Aja is my favorite.

    Thanks for your comments.
