Countdown – More Fear
FISA is back in the news. For some reason, FISA has not been simply explained for the last 2 or 3 years. Therefore, Americans kinda don’t get it. This is something that I talked about on my radio show on a number of occasions. I have also blogged about it here. The progressive guru on FISA is Glenn Greenwald. Glenn has blogged about this illegal activity on a number of occasions. In a recent posting Glenn asks if the Democrats are about to give away the store again.
Keith Olbermann examines the Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell’s testimony on the hill today. He also discusses FISA with Rep. Jane Harman of California. Rep. Harman believes that the House was placed in a terrible position last August. I believe that Nancy Pelosi should not have brought that piece of legislation to the floor. She should have asked for the Senate to return and give her a better piece of legislation but everyone’s excuse for giving away our freedoms was that this law was only in effect for 6 months. As with the Patriot Act, I would answer that 6 months turns into a year then 2 years and so on. The majority of the Patriot Act needs to be scrapped but that’s another post.
Video soon.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy blasted McConnell for suggesting some members of the Democratic-led Congress fail to appreciate the threat of attack. Leahy also criticized McConnell for telling Congress earlier this month that open debate about U.S. surveillance endangered lives. (more…)
