Boston Red Sox up 2 - 0

Wow.  The Boston Red Sox put on a pitching display tonight.  Schilling, Okajima and Papelbon were outstanding.  Schilling had 4 strike outs in 5 1/3 innings.  Okajima had 4 strikes in 2 1/3 innings.  Papelbon for 1 1/3 innings just threw smoke.  He struck out 2.  The Colorado Rockies were the best hitting baseball team in the majors.  But after the 5th inning they didn’t get close to getting another run in this 2 -1 game.  One has to give the Rockies some credit.  They really closed down the Red Sox after they had the bases loaded in the 6th inning (if I’m not mistaken).  (recap)

The play of the day for me was after Holliday hit a 2 out screamer up the middle  for a base hit in the 8th inning.  Now, the go ahead run is at the plate.  Papelbon could have pouted because he had a man on base.  He didn’t.  He kept his head in the game.  He turned and picked off Holliday at first.  The play wasn’t close.  3rd out.  Inning over.
