Countdown - Impeachment resolution

I wrote some reasons why Bush and Cheney should be impeached here and on Liberal Oasis.  A resolution was introduced on the floor of the House today.  The House leadership scrambled to squash it.  House Republicans on the other hand tried to keep the debate going.  Both sides are moronic.

Rachael Maddow of Air America Radio discusses why both sides are wrong in this non-debate.

What border security?

The Bush administration has been pounding the table about security and the lessons of 9-11.  Besides exploiting 9-11 what did the Bush administration learn?  They learned how not to find their best weapon against the democrats - Osama Bin Laden.  They learned how to talk tough and do nothing but line the pockets of corporations like Halliburton and Blackwater USA.

I wonder how many terrorists can hide in a crowd of 21,000?

From CNN.com:

Government watchdogs have found that thousands of people who shouldn’t have been admitted to the United States were mistakenly allowed in last year because of security lapses at legal border crossings.

The number of inadmissible aliens who managed to enter through official ports of entry in 2006 was not disclosed in Monday’s report from the Government Accountability Office.

However, a source who has seen a full version of the report, in which those statistics were included, put the total at 21,000.  (more..)

Cowboys stomp Eagles

Man, I have been waiting for a game like this for 5 years.  I have seen McNabb run circles around the Dallas defenders only to throw a 50 yard strike.  Well, that is all over with now.  At least it was last night.  The Dallas Cowboys came out and whipped the Philadelphia Eagles.  The Cowboys whipped them in every phase of the game.  Offense. Defense.  Special Teams.  Westbrook and McNabb were bottled up.  Yes, McNabb did get some quality throws but he was never in the zone.  Pressure, sacks and interceptions prevented any rhythm.  On the other side of the ball, Tony Romo and Terrell Owens were poetry.  Great crossing patterns.  Owens in the slot, cornerback comes off of him and leaves him wide open.  Romo sees him and it is a score.  Both Barber and Jones ran well.  Patrick, I can run my lips, Crayton was the only Cowboy who really didn’t make an impact on the game.

Oh for years, we went into Philly only to get our butts kicked.  Whether it was Quincy Carter or Drew Bledsoe the results were the same.  I do remember only 2 years ago, Philly came into Dallas and got stomped.  Bledsoe was perfect.  Terry Glenn beat one on one cover all day.  Man that was sweet.  This victory, yesterday, was sweeter.

The road to the NFC Crown has officially left Philly.  I’m not sure if the road goes through Dallas or New York.  I do know that it doesn’t go through Philly any more and that’s a great thing.

World’s Worse - Rudy

Rudy Giuliani has the great pleasure of being the worst person in the world 2 days in a row.  With Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh flapping their mouths day in and day out without regard to the truth, Rudy has gone the extra mile.

Special Comment on Torture

Even now and then, Keith Olbermann speaks with clarity. Maybe he needs a weekend off. Maybe he needs a couple of great football games. I don’t know. What I do know is that this special comment is excellent. Keith’s own words (I guess he wrote them) shine a light into these dark times.

All of it is now, after one revelation last week, transparently clear for what it is: the pathetic and desperate manipulation of the government, the refocusing of our entire nation, toward keeping this mock president and this unstable vice president and this departed wildly self-overrating attorney general, and the others, from potential prosecution for having approved or ordered the illegal torture of prisoners being held in the name of this country.

“Waterboarding is torture,” Daniel Levin was to write. Daniel Levin was no theorist and no protester. He was no troublemaking politician. He was no table-pounding commentator. Daniel Levin was an astonishingly patriotic American and a brave man.

Brave not just with words or with stances, even in a dark time when that kind of bravery can usually be scared or bought off. (more…)
