Discovery lands
This was a huge mission. Prolonged difficult spacewalks. Absolutely a great accomplishment. We need more of this. I need something to be proud of.

From CNN.com:
Discovery and its crew returned to Earth on Wednesday and concluded a 15-day space station build and repair mission that was among the most challenging — and heroic — in shuttle history.
The space shuttle touched down just after 1 p.m., after safely crossing the continent in the first coast-to-coast re-entry since the Columbia disaster almost five years ago.
Commander Pamela Melroy was greeted by crisp fall weather as she brought Discovery down on the runway. (more…)

Thank you for sharing something so incredible. I think everyone as a kid wished he or she could fly in space and to see the accomplishemnts of a few that were able to make it is still awe inspiring.
I just love the space program. I’ll post something from the program any chance that I get.
thanks for your comments.
What the crew did was incredible. Challenging to the point of dangerous but they never faltered. They deserve accolades.
However, before the tear, I read about a exhaustive list of space-walk missions that were planned for the 15 days. After the tear, there were days of delays and then walk after walk was canceled. I completely understand this was necessary, but nothing was written about what was canceled and whether they were necessary activities prior to the next component being delivered in December. I would hate to think it is political to avoid talking about what couldn’t be accomplished.
