Where’s the Outrage?

Thanksgiving is coming up. It’s a day we are supposed to spend with family, eating a large meal and watching football. If that is what you do, very good for you. You’ll get no argument here.

However, for many people, Thanksgiving is a different holiday than the popular image of the day.

Some spend the day with friends instead of family. Some are alone.

Maybe you don’t like your family or maybe your schedule or budget does not allow travel to where your family lives. Maybe you’re alone at this point in life.

Whatever Thanksgiving is for you this year, it’s your choice or your circumstance. Many popular notions and conceptions are as unrealistic as the menu in the picture above. How many people are serving pumpkin bread in the shape of a pumpkin? Or mashed turnips?

As I said in division games, who knows who is going to win. Terrell Owens was clearly a focal point of the week for the Redskins. In spite of this preparation TO had 4 touchdowns.  Now that should keep coach Gibbs scratching his head.

The Washington Redskins played very hard. The Dallas Cowboys had to work for everything that they got. There were no gifts.

Play of the game: The Cowboys on their own 27 threw an in to Jason Whitten. Tony Romo got the ball out late and McIntosh intercepts. Dallas challenges the interception. The ball hits the ground. The Dallas retains the ball. The very next play Tony Romo throws a 51 yard bomb to Patrick “I can run my mouth” Crayton. Pass interference. 3 plays later - 31 yard touchdown to Terrell Owens.

General Comments: The Redskins have a real defense. I’m not sure what the Cowboys have. The Cowboys gave up 423 yards to the Redskins. What the hell is that? The Cowboys had 1 sack. That’s it? If you aren’t going to sack a quarterback that drops back 54 times, you have to defend. We did neither. The Cowboys defense needs to improve if the Cowboys are planning to go deep into the playoffs. To the rest of the league, the Redskins are playing the kind of football that I thought that they would from the beginning of the season.  Jason Campbell isn’t making the stupid mistake that plagued him earlier this year.  He is throwing the ball with authority.  He needs better receivers.   The Redskins are going to bust up some folks down the stretch.

Update:  When folks talk about the New England Patriots running up the score it is because they are running up the score.  Brady could have thrown for 3 touchdowns then switched over to a ball control offensive.  2 tight ends and pound the ball and run the clock.  The Patriots aren’t interested in winning.  They are interested in records.  Belichick wants to be the best coach of all-time.  He wants Brady to be mentioned as the best quarterback of all-time.  So, when it is 4th and 1 at the 1 yard line and you have a 35 - 7 lead you throw a touchdown pass to pad the stats.  All that I can say is that pay back is hell.

Another roadside bomb targeted children.  American troops were handing out presents to children when a roadside bomb killed 3 children.

A roadside bomb killed three Iraqi children and injured seven as they gathered around American troops handing out toys on Sunday, police and government officials told CNN.

Three U.S.soldiers were also killed in the explosion in Baquba, about 12 miles (60 kilometers) north of Baghdad, a police official said.

Other insurgent attacks on Sunday hit a government security convoy and an Iraqi military academy, officials said.  (more…)
