Huckabee ahead in some Iowa polls
I’m guessing that most didn’t see this one coming. Mike Huckabee is leading in some polls. With Rudy Giuliani having probably the worst week ever in modern politics and Mitt Romney feeling that it is necessary to explain his Moron faith, Huckabee strolled in the front door. He is a minister. Therefore, he should appeal to conservative Christians. The problem with Huckabee is that he isn’t a fiscal conservative. He is hoping that many Republicans overlook that little issue.

From WaPo:
Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney holds a wide lead over his Republican rivals in New Hampshire, where he is seen as the strongest leader and most electable presidential candidate in the field, but the GOP race there remains unsettled a month before the nation’s first primary, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Romney has the edge on most issues and candidate qualities tested in the new poll, and his strength in New Hampshire contrasts with his far shakier position in Iowa. He led throughout the summer and fall in Iowa, but recent polls show him locked in a competitive race with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. (more…)

I used to support Mike Huckabee, but since he pardoned a rapist who went on to rape and KILL two women, he no longer has my support!!!

I heard about the case. How could he have known that this guy was going to go on to do those awful things. On the other side of the spectrum you have George Bush who pardoned almost no one while he was governor.
Thanks for your comments.
I really hope that is a misprint above. “Moron Faith?” I’ll show you some outrage…
The perceived need among many for Romney to “explain his faith” is, sadly, quite real. Why doesn’t Huckabee have to explain anything about his? He’s the only candidate who’s ever been paid to do religious work (Romney, like all Mormons, was an unpaid volunteer for any leadership positions he held in the Mormon Church). Why doesn’t he need to defend his faith? Because bigots all over the country have declared his religion to be the ‘right’ one. Religious persecution is alive and well in the United States.
The fact that Mr. Huckabee does not believe in the theory of evolution should immediately disqualify him from holding the oval office. A leader needs to make decisions based on the evidence presented to him - not on his gut or his personal beliefs. We’ve already endured nearly 8 years of this type of decision making with poor results.
I totally agree. Huckabee should be disqualified for a number of reasons including his statement on AIDS which he will not recant.
