Playoffs - Jags vs Pats

I don’t like the Patriots.  I’m sorry.  I just don’t.  I guess it is just like some folks don’t like the Cowboys.  Over the past week, I have been looking at the Jacksonville Jaguars trying to have a way for them to win over the New England Patriots.  There is no doubt that the Jaguars are playing some very good football.  David Garrard is the real deal.  They have a solid offensive and defensive line.  Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew are a great 1-2 punch in the backfield.  The Jags receivers are just average.  Here’s the problem that I think the Jags have been thinking about all week.  Bill Belichick always will try to take away what you do best.  Therefore, he will try and stop the run.  The only way that I see the Jags opening up the running lanes is to come out throwing the ball.  The Jaguar receivers have to make plays down the field.  That will open up the running lanes and have the Patriots on their heels.  The Jags must control the clock.  After an 8 minute drive, a field goal will not done.  They have to score touchdowns.

The Jaguars have a solid, physical defense.  That’s nice but that isn’t going to get it done verses the #1 offense of all-time.   The Jags must pressure Tom Brady.  If Brady is allowed to stand back there and check his hair in the mirror, it is going to be a long day for the Jags.  I know that the Jags don’t like to blitz but they are going to have to blitz to get to Brady.  They have to hit him.  They are going to have harass him like Jeff Garcia was harassed last week.  The Jags secondary will have to play better than they ever have.  They have to shut down - Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth.

I’m not saying that I will not be rooting for the Jags because I will be BUT I know they are going to have to play a perfect game to win in the Pats backyard.
