Romney wins Michigan
Mitt Romney avoids being called a 3-time loser. This was a huge win for Romney. If you can’t win in a state where your father was a popular governor then you are sunk.
An interesting side story is John McCain. He didn’t campaign in Michigan until very late but yet he still came in a strong second. He is looking stronger and stronger as a viable Republican front runner. Mike Huckabee focused his energy on South Carolina. Rudy Giuliani is basically banking on winning in Florida so he skipped Michigan. (I’m sure that I should insert a Fred Thompson and didn’t have the energy to really campaign in this spot but I’ll refrain.)
I’ll have a ton on the democratic debate tomorrow.

Given that the primary didn’t really have any delgates to hand out, I wonder how many democrats voted in the Republican primary? I know some that voted for Romney just to mess with Republicans. And I bet some voted for McCain because he has the most cross-party appeal. But I wonder if enough crossed party lines to render the results meaningless?

I’m not sure. I know that the weather was relatively bad and that the turnout was low. McCain was hoping for a big turnout which would mean a large number of independents and crossover democrats. Didn’t happen.
I’m guessing the fact that you won a state where your father was governor isn’t news. The fact that John McCain was able to challenge shows Romney’s weakness.
