Countdown - Final Push

The national polls as we have seen in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina are tightening. Barack Obama has closed the gap as more and more people look at who he is. 20 states are up for grabs.

Thom Hartmann was playing the middle of the road today on his program. Ed Schultz was trying to see what is the difference between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I’m sorry that’s all of the talk radio that I could stand today. Some days an hour is too much. In over 3 hours of listening, no one mentioned Iraq or the Iraq war vote. No one. I just find that curious. The other thing that no one had mentioned how Hillary is a polarizing figure. Evan Byah mentioned how Hillary reached out to republicans when she first got into the Senate. Interesting that he didn’t mention one piece of legislation that came out of that alliance.

Where’s Mike Gravel? Let’s all vote for him!! Not! I’m just joking.

Don’t forget to check out my contest and weigh in on who you think would be the best VP.

Countdown’s Bushed

Keith Olbermann continues to remind us of the other scandals of the Bush administration and there are several.

Waterboarding - Senate may hold up the deputy attorney general’s nomination unless they get the information that they have asked for on waterboarding.

The Surge - Iraq’s VP  stated that the latest DeBaathification law is unlikely to pass but I thought that we were winning?

Priorities of the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - The assistant secretary of state was ask which war was more important to our national securtity.  Oh, you have to see the video.  If I typed the answer you would think that it was a typo because nobody would be that stupid.  Right?

Countdown - Today’s Worst

It is hard to beat this line-up - Chris Wallace of Fox Noise, Gambling Bill Bennett and Rush Limbaugh for being Rush. Sweet.

What was the important play of the Super Bowl?

The Giants made so many plays. It is hard to single out the “best”. You can argue that it was the first or second play of the game when Brady was sacked that set the tone. There was a play in the middle of the second quarter in which somebody wacked Wes Welker. I thought he was staggering when he got up. He was clearly shaking his head like the cobwebs wouldn’t leave. There was Amani Toomer’s beautiful catch along the sideline.

I chose 2 plays that I think were critical to the outcome of the game. Both were very late in the game. Eli Manning drops back to pass and is swarmed by the Patriots defense. He escapes by twitching his nose or rubbing a magic rabbit’s foot or something. He then throws a high wounded duck that David Tryee out jumps Rodney Harrison and pins the ball against his helmet then secures it while Harrison is trying to knock it out. This is one of the great plays in Super Bowl history. It will be played over and over.

The second play I chose was on the Patriots final possession since it really wasn’t a drive. It is second and 10. Tom Brady goes back to pass. He needs some time since everyone is running deep routes. The Giant’s rookie, Alford, slides free up the middle and plants Brady for a 10 yard loss. Now, it is 3rd and 20. The sack showed everyone that this wasn’t going to be any Pre-Vent defense. They were still coming after the quarterback.  Game over.

Super Bowl Ads

For the second year in a row the Super Bowl ads were lack luster.  Few were bold or funny.  Most were the same old stuff.  Very disappointing.

The following Bud Light commercial was the funniest in my opinion.  Breathing fire.

(Disclaimer - I don’t get paid by Bud or Bud Light.  Wish I did.  I don’t drink Bud or Bud Light.  Although I know many people who do.)

Maria Shriver goes against the governator

maria-shriver Maria Shriver goes against the governatorMaria Shriver has endorsed Barack Obama. As you know, Maria is a Kennedy and the wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who endorsed John McCain only a couple of days ago. I wonder if this caused some tension in the family.

I’ll see if I can get the video for you.

———-

From CNN:

Maria Shriver endorsed Democrat Barack Obama’s White House bid today at a Los Angeles rally.

“Follow your own truth and your own voice,” she told the crowd. With California’s primary just 48 hours away, “We’re at the epicenter of change. We can lead. We can lead this country,” she said. (more…)

Obama - Yes we can

I have tried to stay neutral in this presidential race because I’m going to support who ever wins the Democratic nomination. I have given money to John Edwards, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I have tried to get all 3 on my radio show. For me, Barack Obama is a special man. He has caused me to stop in my tracks and say, “Yes, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!” No he isn’t perfect but no man is. He is the man that in needed now because of this I’m endorsing Barack Obama.

Hillary Clinton is a fine Senator but I have been drawn to her leadership. During the very, very dark times back in 2002 where was Hillary? When the Bush war machine was cranking out lie after lie, where was Hillary? When the Senate was debating the Iraq war only a few Senators stood up and stated with a clear voice that this was wrong. Senators Bob Graham and Russ Feingold were the loudest of the bunch but they needed someone with the national if not international clout to effectively stand up to Bush. They needed someone of Hillary Clinton’s stature. Where was her leadership when we really and truly needed it? Because Hillary Clinton let me down, she let the country down in those dark days, I can’t endorse her.

MoveOn.org has endorsed Barack Obama.

Even now and then you can’t dance with the one that brought you. Sometimes you have to leave that person and find something better. Sometime or someone who and lead you where you know you need to go. Barack Obama.
