Obama and patriotism
Keith Olbermann talks with Rachel Maddow about Barack Obama’s patriotism. The AP asked the question if Barack Obama is patriotic enough? Reporter Nedra Pickler uses Roger Stone of the Swift Boat Morons as a reference for comment. Just to complete the smear they use a picture of Barack in which he is lost in the darkness of night. (see below)
CNN puts out a poll in which they underscore Right Wing this stupidity. They ask a variation of the above question - Does Barack Obama should the proper patriotism to be president? What kind of crap is that? Now, you have to take a patriotism quiz before running for president? (Did you see this great picture of convicted Congressman Randy Cunningham with his flag lapel pin?)
The best thing that I can say is Barack Obama is up for the challenge. He is not hiding in the corner. It isn’t running to put on 5 lapel pins. Instead, he is standing tall and taking on the knuckleheads.
Everybody runs against Obama using smear and fear. Says more about Obama’s opponents than it says about him. Let’s hope the voters get that. No surprise CNN parrots the phony patriotism question. Frightened of Obama, Corporate America lends cover to Hillary & the Repugs, who now are indistinguishable.
Patriotism has been re-defined since Lil’ Bush’s reign. You know the term “all hat no cows” to refer to cowboy wannabe’s? That’s how I view those neocons wearing flag lapel pins. They say one thing, but we have been duped by this false patriotism.
I worry less and less about Obama with time. He’s the real thing, and no amount of mudslinging has stuck, yet. Alternative media, such as this blog, give people a more diverse point of view and a more balanced picture.
There are lots of reasons to run for public office including simple egotism and thirst for power. But at the very least every person running for public office - whether it be for city council or the President of the US - is a patriot. There are a lot easier ways to earn money for a person who doesn’t care about his community than public office. What kind of moron would run for elected office if he didn’t care about his community. What kind of moron would suggest that an elected official or a potential elected official isn’t patriotic.
I look for more and not less of these types of attacks. The latest polling reveals that Hillary has lost support across the board. Everyone including her strength white women over 50 have been moving toward Obama. Polls can be wrong but I don’t think so this time. This is what we have seen in more and more primaries.
The Clinton ship has been taking on water and they are doing everything that they can to prevent sinking.
Look for McCain to step up attacks also. I think that McCain can easily beat Clinton in the general election but would get trounced by Obama. McCain’s stance on the war would sink him. He has to be able to throw enough garbage at Obama for voters to ignore McCain’s war stance for him to win. That’s an awful lot of garbage!!
