So, what now? Here’s Elliott Spitzer’s statement (video below). I’ll have more on this later on tonight. What I will say now is - Larry Craig and David Vitter. These are both Republican Senators who have been associated with sex scandals in one way or another. They are both still sitting in the Senate. If you are going to force Elliott Spitzer to leave office then these 2 shining examples of right wing hypocrisy should be forced out of office also.
Larry Craig is up for election this year. So he will be out and why Idaho didn’t demand he step down is beyond me.But where does Vitter stand is his term?
Spitzer stepped down. The right (meaning correct) thing to do. The republicans are too full of themselves and love their own hypocrisy.
Now we can move forward…progress…

You are 100% correct BUT he has hurt the democratic party in NY. Let’s see if they are able to recover.
Plenty of Republicans have stepped down in the past, for e.g Foley, Livingston, Packwood,Dick Morris (don’t know whether Morris is actually a Republican or Democrat). I think Craig waffled because he panicked. He should step down but he now believes that he can beat a misdemeanor charge.
It looks like Elliot is facing both state and federal charges.
Democrats seem more intransigent to me. Gerry Studz, Barney Frank continued amidst a sex scandal. Then there’s William Jefferson. Some day this ugly scandal involving the mayor of Detroit will get national attention. Of course there is the rock, Bill Clinton.

I’m not sure that you should lump all of these folks together. Foley had at the very least inappropriate communications with minors. Completely different bag. Livingston was one of the most outspoken critics of Bill Clinton. I think that you should resign if you were complaining about an extra-marital affair and it turns out that you did the same thing. Packwood was charged with sexual harassment. Well, he wasn’t charged but allegations were flying. They also included sexual abuse, verbal abuse and assault.
Dick Morris is probably more of a Republican than a Democrat (Fox News Consultant). His case was similar to Spitzer’s. Consenting adults.
Jefferson should leave Congress. I don’t think that there is any way for him to talk his way out of this one. There is no excuse for him to still be in Congress. None.
Clinton was having consensual sex with an adult. I have no problem with that. Hillary may have a problem with it but I don’t. I have a problem with him lying to federal officials. I have a problem with him trying to outsmart federal prosecutors.

Clinton’s case was most similar to Packwood but worse considering that he was accused of rape as well as harassment.
