Chad Johnson in a Cowboy Uniform?

Chad Johnson

It appears that Chad Johnson wants out of Cincinnati. It is clear that two years ago, the Bengals looked like they were an elite NFL team. Last year, not so much. As turnovers and a terribly porous defense made Cincinnati an easy win for most teams. Johnson wants a ring. There are rumors flying that he wants to be traded traded to Dallas. With Terry Glenn almost certainly retiring after three knee surgeries in less than 12 months, Johnson is definitely what the Cowboys need. The big question is would T.O. and Johnson get along? Are their enough balls (footballs) for everyone to be happy?

The other rumor which is floating around is Pacman Jones. Help me understand this one? Pacman Jones is a guy who loves being arrested. If he didn’t he would change his ways. He has talked about reforming his lifestyle on a number of occasions only to revert back to strip clubs, fights and getting arrested. The Cowboys didn’t flinch a muscle when Asante Samuels came on the market. He is a great press cover guy who is not afraid to tackle. We need our secondary to step up especially since the New York Giants, the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles, all should have a better passing game next year. With more teams playing 3 and 4 wides, we need another cover corner. Nathan Jones and Jacques Reeves were both taken by Miami so we are left with Pacman Jones? Doesn’t sound right, does it?

Janet Jackson: Feedback

I saw Janet Jackson video “Feedback” a couple of weeks ago and didn’t think that much of it. It didn’t seem that different from everything else that is on the airwaves. I have heard her new video several times since then. It is growing on me.

Why is Clinton still Running?

Before I get some hate comments from Senator Hillary Clinton supporters: I don’t hate Clinton. I have spoken out against unfair Rove-like tactics. Now, with that out of the way…

Politico.com seems to have always leaned toward the right but there was an interesting article today. The article has been widely quoted by Daily Kos. In this article, Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei ask why the press is saying there is still as race in the Democractic Party. I have written about Clinton and her real uphill battle; winning really isn’t possible without superdelegate intervention.

———–

From Politico.com:

One big fact has largely been lost in the recent coverage of the Democratic presidential race: Hillary Rodham Clinton has virtually no chance of winning.

Her own campaign acknowledges there is no way that she will finish ahead in pledged delegates. That means the only way she wins is if Democratic superdelegates are ready to risk a backlash of historic proportions from the party’s most reliable constituency.

Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote — which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle — and use that achievement to pressure superdelegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African-American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else. (more…)

Robert Greenwald: When Fox Attacks

Robert Greenwald has teamed up with MoveOn.org. The film When Fox Attacks underlines the wacky stuff that Fox Folks utter and how it ends up in the mainstream media.

Governor Bill Richardson Endorses Obama

obama-richardson-topper Governor Bill Richardson Endorses Obama

Update: Video from Countdown added. Keith Olbermann interviews Governor Richardson.

I think that Governor Bill Richardson’s endorsement is just as big as when Hillary Clinton got endorsed by Jack Murtha (the anti-war former Marine from Pennsylvania). Richardson, who held two cabinet posts during the Clinton administration, stood with Obama today. Many believe that Richardson may help swing the Hispanic vote for Obama. I’m not so sure. I think that Richardson, like Edward Kennedy, represents an older wing of the Democratic party. They are the wise elders. Richardson makes it easier for Super Delegates to vote with their constituents.

From USA Today:

America’s only Hispanic governor has thrown his support behind Barack Obama for president, delivering one of the most coveted endorsements in the race for the Democratic nomination.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson joined Obama at an Oregon rally Friday and said the Illinois senator demonstrated his leadership abilities this week with his speech on race. Richardson gave up his own bid for the nomination in January. (more…)

Passports, Obama, and the State Department

As I thought about this last night, it was hard to imagine that this only happened to Barack Obama. Now, we know that it happened to Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and Barack Obama. The State Department’s press conference was less than reassuring. The fact that a trainee could access a Senator’s passport information is somewhat frightening. The fact that safeguards still haven’t been put in place is retarded.

Trainees should have access to fake files or files from American citizens who have volunteered to have trainees learn with their information.

One has to wonder how many of these violations there are per year. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said that there were a “handful” out of 18 million passports processed by the Department last year alone. Poppycock. My guess that there are thousands of breaches of every day Americans while there may be only a handful of high profile breaches which are noticed and dealt with by the Department.

I think that it is clear that the State Department has placed a low priority on passport security. It isn’t that they don’t care. They just will get to passport security when there isn’t a crisis somewhere in the world. To her credit Secretary of State Condi Rice has called all three senators and apologized for allowing inexperienced contract workers to access their files.

Midwest Flooding

I moved to St. Louis back in 1994. There was a lot of flooding that spring and I was trying to build a house but the basement walls collapsed twice during construction because the ground was so saturated with water. The current situation with flooding is reportedly worse.

The St. Louis Dispatch has an interactive map which has more information on flooded areas.

Again, we– the American people– will be asking FEMA and this dysfunctional Bush administration for help. Yuck.

From St. Louis Dispatch:

Workers know what’s at stake if they can’t keep the flood waters off the interstate.

“Obviously, Interstate 44 is a major arterial through our region, for motorists and for interstate commerce,” Wang said. “We’re very aware of that. And, it’s Easter weekend and people may be traveling this weekend. That’s why we’re taking these measures to keep Mother Nature at bay.”

St. Louis County’s emergency management office this morning said Highway 109 is probably the next road that will be affected. Water is threatening to close Highway 109 by Eureka High School and Highway 109 at Old State Road. Early today, about 4:30 a.m., the county’s police helicopter saw that water was about 10 feet from reaching Highway 109. (more…)
