Myanmar’s Disaster

The more I hear about Myanmar, the worse the news is.

  1. The more we hear about the suffering people. The more we have to ask why? If the US can go into another country at will and bomb the crap out of them but will not risk dropping supplies to the cut of people is beyond me. The UN is scratching its ***** trying to figure out whether or not to force their forces in to help out. But the disease is going to spread rapidly and I don’t see it being contained to that area. The mosquitos will do their part and the water will be so poluted with the dead bodies. It will just spread. I understand the generals not wanting anyone in. They want the people to die. Less contention against them. They have been ethnic cleansing the villages for years. How else to speed up the process by just not doing anything to the million people affected. There are enough countries waiting to take in supplies and send their people. What are they waiting for. What are the generals going to do if the whole world demands they do something by just doing it. I don’t understand how we can invade and devistate a country we thought had possible WMDS and not take supplies into one we know doesn’t

  2. Myanmar’s banning outside rescue personnel, American in particular, is another consequence of Bush’s oil-thirsty “preemptive” warfare. The U.S. asked the Myanmar generals to “let [the U.S.] Navy help.” The junta refused. There’s oil in Myanmar’s Mottama, Tanintharyi and Rakhine coastal regions. The generals are butchers, but they’re not crazy.

  3. If there is oil there I am really surprised we havent invaded , gone in to help the people.

I agree with the collective frustration and appearance of a double standard.

    Scott…

You know that you are 100% correct. Diplomacy is something that doesn’t apply to oil countries.

Thanks for your funny, insightful comments.
