Countdown’s Special Comment: Clinton is Unforgiveable
There are times when Keith Olbermann’s Special Comments are over the top. Fortunately, those times are few and far between. Most of the time, like tonight, they are exactly right. He underscores the idea that there are places that we should never go in public, and mentioning assassination is one of those places. I have no idea why Senator Hillary Clinton would go down this road and lie about Bosnia.
From the Special Comment:
We cannot forgive you this — not because it is crass and low and unfeeling and brutal.
This is unforgivable, because this nation’s deepest shame, its most enduring horror, its most terrifying legacy, is political assassination.
Lincoln. Garfield. McKinley. Kennedy. Martin Luther King. Malcolm X. Robert Kennedy.
And, but for the grace of the universe or the luck of the draw, Reagan, Ford, Truman, Nixon, Andrew Jackson, both Roosevelts, even George Wallace.
The politics of this nation is steeped enough in blood, Senator Clinton, you cannot and must not invoke that imagery! Anywhere! At any time!
And to not appreciate, immediately - to still not appreciate tonight - just what you have done… is to reveal an incomprehension of the America you seek to lead.
On top of this is there is a report that TPM has posted that former President Bill Clinton is working to secure his wife a spot on the Obama ticket. Come on, can we get back to reality? Can we, please? Senator Clinton has had her shot. She simply isn’t the best person for the Vice Presidential position. Also, if you were president would you want former President Clinton staring over your shoulder? No. I don’t think so. After the assassination reference, why would you put her on the ticket? It is time for the silly season to end. It is time for us, progressives, to pull together to crush Senator John McCain in the general election. (Bill at Liberal Oasis has more on this Nightmare ticket.)

its almost like she is setting herself up for failure, I wonder why she would do that?
Candidates have a RESPONSIBILITY to bring up ALL issues and contingencies so the must be nowhere that the shouldn’t go, placing any issue off limits would be the death of transperancy and democracy. It is high time this issue was raised because candidates suddenly die of both violent and natural causes, and after two Kennedys, FDR and more, the Democratic Party by now should have set up a system of earlier vice candidates or understudies, so that the death of any one person would be politically far less significant than Humphrey, Truman or Johnson. The Clinton and Obama voting records are so similar that they are far more interchangeable than those earlier replacements, with far less likely effect on policy, but if Obama thinks the policy effect would be larger than the voting records suggest, then he should have chosen an understudy long ago, and been allowed to do so.
I’m more concerned about zoning in their neighborhoods and the inability of Clinton’s neighbors in elitist Chappaqua NY to build duplexes or site trailers and Obama’s neighbors in Hyde Park IL to open battered women’s shelters.
“There must be nowhere that they shouldn’t go” because they must go everywhere. Two typos.
I’m a bit offended that Olberman and Thompson would be so upset about the spouse of a Vice President, no spouce of a VP has ever interfered with the presidency and assuming one would suddenly start out of the blue is clearly sexist.
I needed to change my website link because the censors at city-data were deleting my reference posts apperantly because they thought I shouldn’t “go there”.
If you think it, then you have a responsibility to say it, honesty demands no less.
A gaffe happens when a politician accidentally tells the truth. I suppose it’s unreasonable to accuse Clinton of hoping for 1968-style event. At least, as far as I know, it is. But Obama getting the Dem nomination wasn’t in either party establishment’s plan. They can’t believe it. They don’t know what to do about it. And now they’re all desperate to be saved from it by some unlikely bell. Any bell at all.
Somewhere, Dr. Freud is smiling.
Repubican Missouri Governor Carnahan died in a plane crash while capmaigning for Senate against John Ashcroft and was succeeded by his wife. All that flying around during camaigns is probably as or more dangerous than assissins. Plus Sonny Bono. I have links but they don’t seem to post. let’s try this without the prefix or suffix.

We need to raise these issues to better carry out the will of the voters in the inevitable event of untimely death of candidates with better and earlier chose understudies and vice candidates in all offices. It’s high time we went there.

As I said on the show (I appreciate your call) that I understand openness. I think that it critical is a true democracy. Talking about assassination serves no one.
Yes, people have died in the pass and they will in the future. But to say that you are sitting around waiting for something bad to happen is awful. Get of the race. If something bad happens get back in.
I appreciate your sentiments.
From Blacks4Barack…ACTION TIME !!!!!!!!!
Demand To DNC: Kick Hillary Out NOW !
Insinuates That Obama Could Be ASSASSINATED !
Now, things have gone way too far. Yesterday, in an appearance in South Dakota, Hillary Clinton justified her reason for staying in the campaign by referring to the fact that presidential hopeful ‘Robert Kennedy was assasinated in June’…implying that the same could occur to Senator Obama. THIS IS SICK !!! Regardless of how the pundits try to spin this as just another misspeak, the statement speaks for itself and displays the diobolical mentality of Hillary Clinton.
It is unclear as to whether she is actually hoping that Obama would be killed, therefore giving her an open path to the Democratic nomination, or if she may be signaling her desire to some sick, warp minded homicidal maniac. Whichever be the case, her statement is automatic grounds for the Democratic National Committee headed by Howard Dean to demand that she remove herself from the race. If he does not, American Democrats should demand HIS stepping down !
This can not be tolerated!!! Regardless of who you are a supporter of, Hillary, Obama or McCain, ANYONE who would wish the death of another human being in order to win a political position is sick, dangerous, maniacal, deranged and totally mentally and morally unfit for any political position, particularly President or V.P. of the United States.

I would advise Clinton to reduce her campaign expenditures and save the money for her next Senate race. But Ron Paul and Mike Gravel are still in the race, theres no reason why Clinton should actively leave before the convention. Their policies are almost identical anyway, so why does anyone care? Except Clinton is the bigger zoner because Chappaqua is single family low density where Hyde Park IL is Residential, Multifamily, 108 units per acre, but does offensively restrict battered women’s shelters.
