US Attorney’s - We need to investigate

I found this article on my computer. I wrote this article back in May of 2007. Hope that you enjoy it.

Just because something is complex does not mean it’s not understandable. The US Attorney scandal is confusing. The question is, what’s going on? Well, in order to figure out everything that’s going on there must be investigations. Some folks on Capitol Hill are calling the current investigations a witch hunt and “political theater.”

Question B if a policeman sees someone walking down the street with a large plasma TV should he be curious? So he asks the guy, “What are you doing with that TV?” He replies, “I’m fixing it for Ms. Smith.” “Ms. Smith? There’s no Ms. Smith that lives on this street.” “Did I say fixing it? I meant delivering it to Mr. Jones.” I think that everyone would assume that this situation deserves further investigation.

The same type of thing has happened with the Justice Department. Eight US attorneys were fired out of the blue. All of these attorneys were Republicans. The initial explanation was that they were fired for performance reasons. Several reporters were able to obtain performance evaluations on several of these attorneys and they were excellent. The next explanation was that some of the attorneys did not prosecute enough immigration cases. This explanation did not hold up to investigation either. Finally, Alberto Gonzales, the US Attorney General, stated that these US attorneys serve at the pleasure of the president. Therefore, the president can fire them at any time for any reason. Well, this is sort of true. It is true that the president has the power to hire and fire US attorneys. But, and this is important, the President cannot fire at a US attorney to influence a particular case or to halt a particular investigation or for political reasons. [Read more →]

US Open - Day #3, part 2

Tiger Woods started today’s round with a double bogey. He was just struggling. Not making up any ground. As a matter of fact, he was losing ground. He was 5 strokes begin the leader when he was on 13. Then out of nowhere, magic.

From ESPN:

Tiger Woods is looking to win the U.S. Open for a third time, giving him the career grand slam three times over (and matching Jack Nicklaus).

Englishman Lee Westwood is seeking to become the first man from Europe to win the U.S. Open in nearly 40 years.

And they’ll be head-to-head in the final group Sunday at Torrey Pines.

Woods, with two back-nine eagles, leads the U.S. Open by a shot over Westwood heading into the final round. (more…)

US Open - day 3

First, I must admit that I can’t sit down and watch 5 or 6 hours of golf. I just can’t do it. So, I do stuff then come back to the TV. So, after Phil Mickelson’s disaster on 13, NBC showed it. 13 is a par 5. Mickelson wasn’t really in the hunt but with a couple of strong holes he could be. Tiger Woods wasn’t smoking up the course. Unfortunately, a 9 on 13 completely ended Mickelson’s US Open. This is hard to watch.

Obama sock puppet

As we all know, we haven’t fixed the race problem yet. It doesn’t look like we will fix that problem anytime soon. Some company out of Utah is selling an Obama sock puppet which, of course, looks like a monkey. It is at times like these when I’m sorry that we don’t have public floggings. Truly despicable.

Update: A guy from Utah posted this.

From TP:

Last month, ThinkProgress noted that a bar owner in Georgia was selling t-shirts comparing Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) to Curious George; last week, the Black Congressional Caucus Foundation received a t-shirt in the mail featuring a similar image. Continuing this racially-charged theme, a stuffed monkey toy called “The Sock Obama” has now been made available online:

TheSockObama™ is made with high quality knit materials to capture the nostalgic look of the Sock Monkey that we all know and love. Staying true to his root, he is hand stuffed with just enough filling to give him a firm, but huggable feel. The removable suit jacket offers two looks for this future President - All Business or Hands On. (more…)

US Open Day 2

My brother called me around 7 yesterday evening. Are you watching the US Open? Nope. Then we started talking about this and that. Suddenly, he switches subjects back to golf and says, “I’m not sure why you aren’t watching the Open, Tiger has birdied 2 in a row.”

Tiger was the story yesterday as he is only one stroke back as the 3rd round starts today.

From AP:

Tiger Woods looked like any other player trying to survive a U.S. Open, head bowed in frustration with each shot that found trouble and kept him farther from the lead.

One hole changed everything.

With his metal spikes on a cement path and a tree over his head, he fired an 8-iron around the branches and over the bunker to 18 feet for a birdie that sent him charging into contention at Torrey Pines on Friday. (more…)

This is a long summary of yesterday’s events -
