Senator McCain and our president, Mr. Bush, have been speaking publically in favor of the new GI bill under the guise that they initially supported it. Of all the theatrics this election season, I thought this act to be one of the most demeaning. Senator McCain, a man who I have a lot of respect for, but who I do not feel is a valid candidate for preseident, should take the high road on this one and admit that the bill was not supported by him or Mr. Bush. To pretend otherwise, and allow the American people to believe that he did is genuinely dishonest. One of his fellow vets and pols, Senator Jim Webb, has said as much recently. Listen, you can dangling shiny objects in the eyes of the American public as much as you want, but you should not outright LIE. This will come back to haunt both of them.

I haven't been following this real closely--but hasn't Senator McCain been stumping in ways to take credit for the passage of this bill? Even though he opposed the legislation and then avoided a vote on it. I thought I saw a clip on MSNBC the other day.

The military families will be celebrating for sure this 4th of July. They earned this. I love the fact that McCain didn't even show up to vote up or down. Bush at least said he would sign it and McCain as far as i know still doesn't approve.
