The Onion: Bush Tours Damaged Areas

The Onion has been around for years and the paper has a very loyal following. I read it and their web site infrequently although I always find it enjoyable.

This is a very funny bit on President Bush touring the devastation of his presidency– America.

  1. I don’t understand why so many peole who disagree with George Bush also feel obligated to to hate him, as well. When I listen to the hyperbolic and lame attempt at humor that is displayed on the video that you have featured here, is see an immaturity and clear lack of understanding. Humor? No.

It must be nice to be comfortable with a political postion that can be fully spelled out on a bumper sticker. Weak!

  2. Oh, one other thing; the left has turned descent and anger into an industry.

Congratulations, you must be so proud.

  3. Mark -

I’m so sorry to disappoint you but I don’t hate George W. Bush. He is a terrible president who has increased the income of the wealthy at the expense of the poor and the middle class.

  4. You know Hate is a feeling in which I feel for this man. He as the :”Decider” has decided to put his own ideology in the works ahead if what was best for the country. Anyone who can still respect or even like this man is not in touch with what this country ” used ” to stand for before he took office. The war, torture, largest deficit , blaming us for the cost of gas, environment, putting unqualified people in very serious government roles just for kissing his butt, “FEMA, Gonzales” Illegally wiretapping innocent people, the list just keeps getting longer. He hasn’t kept us safe. The people that do the screening at the airports and observant people being aware of their surroundings are keeping us safe.

So tell me why i shouldn’t hate this person and what he has done for the US and how we are seen around the world.

The “decider” wasn’t even a good governor but thank goodness he had Karl Rove and Jeb Bush to get him elected just to prove to his father he was a man. Too bad he had to use this country to try and prove himself. He has proved to be the worst so far in the history of this country.

    Yep I hate him

  5. I forgot ,

I thought this was hilarous THANK YOU for sharing

  6. Mark,
Dissent (descent is what has happened to our country under GW’s leadership) and anger was turned into an industry long before GW. It’s why the USA is independant of Great Britain and further dissent is what allows freedom flourish. Another thing, who is really angry here, the Onion and those of us who can laugh and such abuses done to our country, or you Mark?

  7. Margaret,
Hate will only burden you. To paraphrase a wise and holy man: Forgive GW, he knows not what he does.

  8. Michael,
The sad thing is he knew what he was doing. He does not deserve pity. I do believe he knew what was going to happen in the subprime mortgage loans. There was an article printed in my city newspaper last year. It was from the state’s attorney general stating that all 50 of them had written a letter to the finance rules and regulation board ( I know I have the dept wrong) about the mortgage problems. They said they sent this over 2 years ago pleading for them to stop it. They did nothing. I believe Bush knew what was going to happen but had figured it wouldn’t hit until 2009. That way it would make the new president look even worse. Trying to make a good legacy. Greed and such selfishness. Nope he doesn’t deserve pity He and his cronies knew what they were doing. They just got caught,. Too bad they won’t go to jail

  9. Forgiveness in no way means pity. And this is probably the most common error when understanding this divine advise. Forgiveness is something that represents your nature and thsu sets you apart from the evil that is controlling this man. You are absolutely correct, W deserves justice for what he has willfully done. Nonetheless, you don’t have to be vengefull, nor hold negative thoughts about a person, in order to judge them and serve them justice fairly. He is the one trapped in negativity, whose ego is so large he most likely believes we are the crazy ones, so do not stoop to his level. Punishment for willfully hurting those he should serve and defend, sure, but not in a way that brings our the worst in me.

  10. Well said.
