Obama Tackling Energy

I think that Senator John McCain has thrown in the towel. He continues to run yesterday’s campaign. His campaign was handing out tire gauges with Senator Barack Obama’s name on them, like that was Obama’s whole energy plan. As anyone who reads knows that Obama proposed a comprehensive energy plan that has at its heart the goal of eliminating our dependence on foreign oil. By the way, shouldn’t that be our goal?

  1. You know McCain speaks that we need to drill off shore “today” But no one can make them do it. Even if they lift the moratorium for the outer shelf. What makes the oil companies desire to drill. Profits? Nope they will make more money by locking up more leases and not drilling. The big oil companies can outbid the smaller ones and sit on them. They are already sitting on 86 million acres. We can’t force them to drill. Unless the congress passes what Nancy Pelosi was saying. Either use it or lose it. They own us until we can find more alternative ways to produce energy. That is why I was excited about the natural gas find in Mansfield LA. because we don’t have to sell it according to OPEC. That cost is regulated by US companies. It is on our soil and is used in this country not sold to the highest bidder.

  2. The best thing would be that vehicles of all kinds can run very efficiently on natural gas. and it polutes very little. But congress is bragging how they already passed a new MPG standard at 35 by the year 2020.. That is something to brag about. The american car makers were making NG cars about 10 a few years ago and you can buy a conversion kit for some of the models. They make a system that connects to your home supply. NPR just had a news story about the NG they are finding under the shale in Northern Texas and that field is around Fort Worth so all the property owners are getting wealthy. They were stating the field is about 40 trillion CF. There is also the same shale formation in Oklahoma and hasn’t been tapped yet.
So McCain can keep preaching Nuclear Power which takes huge amounts of money and water. And of course the government wants to put the waste in Yucca Mountain which is right on top of a fault. Earthquake prone. I still want my NG car. at 76 cents a gallon and almost no polution. It could be a big piece of the puzzle.
