The comments blow me away. If you don't like what is going on at the national level, then are all these people who commented involved in the local level of government.

The towns, counties and state governments actually have more impact on your life than what the federal government does or doesn't due. Wake up and get involved in your local government. They make the most important rules.

I too have my thoughts on this election as well as my fears. These have already been expressed most eloquently by those who have posted before me. I do, however feel I need to perhaps give a short history lesson to the person who stated every war has been started under a Republican President. You are quite simply wrong. Every major war has been started under a Democrat. WW I - we entered under President Wilson - a Democrat. WW II - we entered under Roosevelt/Truman - both Democrats. Korea - we entered under Truman. He was the first President to enter a conflict without a formal declaration of war...this was so he could circumvent the usual channels and enter Korea for his strategy of "containment." Then there was Vietnam which was entered under Kennedy also a Democrat and continued under Jonhnson a Democrat. This is not to lessen the impact and mistakes that may have been made by Republicans, but merely to point out the error of the previous post. Perhaps if we voted cognitively, with our brains instead of our feelings we might make better choices for our country. If we don't even have a basic knowledge of history how can we keep from making the same mistakes? I love my country and hope to see it continue as one nation. God Bless America!

I am so glad that someone else has recognized this man is not "black" but mixed race in this nationally recognized mulicultural category of biracialism. I am, like Obama, born of a white mother and a black father, raised by my mother and am very proud to claim both sides of my culture. Obama has said repeatedly to NOT elect him based on race and that he is his MOTHER'S son. What is that telling you people? Give this man a chance based on his idea's and not the tone of his skin!!!

Its too bad people vote for eloquency instead of sorting through the ideas and realizing which ones are actually realistic. Good luck cuting taxes, spreading the wealth, and still lowering the national debt. I actaully heard a lady on tv that really believed that if Obama was president then she wouldn't eventually have to pay a gas bill or her mortgage! We have turned into a country of ignorant people who can't see past hollywood much less high school algebra.

This is an historic day for America. 62 million voters chose Mr. Obama and should be pleased at the system while 55 million are worried that new policies will take the country where they didn't want to go. The other 210+ million were too young or too disinterested to vote. The power is now in the hands of Mr. Obama. At the end of an overly long campaign, we can get on with hoping the new president will craft a better future for us and our children. If Mr. Obama can do that without hurting too many of the 55 million that voted against him, he will go down in history as a great president rather than just one who was the first mixed race candidate. At least he is eloquent, which is more than I can say for the guy I voted for.

As a Christian, I'm surprised by the idea that times will be hard because Obama is president. Is God not still on the throne? Are we not called to pray for those in authority so that things will go well for us a people?

It may please some to believe that Obama is the tool of Muslims, or Black Panthers, or Satan. However, that anger won't address the nation's woes or the economy's needs. Change was going to come and it came almost completely because of the failed policies of George W. Bush.

I hope in time that those who fear Obama will come to see him as an idealistic realist who sought to form a more perfect union. I hope that those who believe he walks on water will forgive him his unintended failures. Most of all, however, I hope and pray that America will someday really become the united United States of America.

The nation has spoken. And this time, the margin of defeat was too large to be stolen.

To all the die hard Republicans: Chill out! Give Obama a chance and see what happens before you throw up your hands with gloom and doom scenarios. And leave God out of it - God is not a Republican. God wants unity and caring from us, so be careful you do not violate God's will by using hate (such as calling people "morons" - hint, hint).

By the way, I did not vote for either one of them. I wrote in a vote for Ron Paul, who I felt would be the best President. I read very carefully about all candidates, IGNORING the political propoganda. I do my own research and do not watch the biased mainstream news networks like CNN and FoxNews. I encourage others to think for themselves and not be drawn in by the mainstream political rhetoric.

Lastly, unity is what we need. Those who continue to fight against unity may end up being responsible for another civil war. Think hard before you act.

God bless our nation and all of us!

With Obama in the White House there is only one thing to say, "May God have mercy on us". Being a Christian, alot of us prayed that God's will be done. Well this is his will and we will be going through a hard time, well at least the ones that work that is. Obama as President means that our rights as Christians will be dimished alot. Him being against Israel is bad, but it will start on our on soil first.

Christians if you were not in prayer before, NOW is the time to get on your knees before God. We will need him more than ever now.

Tim, I don't think I am any better than anyone else. I am not superior to anyone else. I am not prejudice either, I am white and dam proud of it. I would not have voted for Obama if he would have been white. I also would have voted for John McCain if he had been Black.

John McCain is a man. Obama is a something, I don't know what, but we will soon know, and it certainly won't take 4 years. I am almost glad that Obama won so that now all those (I can't think of a better word than treason) people or what ever acorn regestered them as can get what is coming to them. We are all going to get it, but so be it. We survived Bill Clinton, and if we can surive that miscreant we can survive anything.

OBAMA didn't win the election, the muslims bought it for him. All those millions didn't come from American Citizens. Their plans for Israel is frightening, worse than Hitler. Hitler just burned millions, the muslims just want to destroy the whole nation. Obama is already saying he intends to go to IRAN and seal the deal. And all those Jewish people whole control NBC,ABC,CBS,MSNBC and CNN are not going to excape the hatred either.

The guy who told us to grow up because we are prejudice is a complete idiot. You think this is about race? For Republicans it had nothing to do with race. I could care less if McCain was black or brown. The ideology is what is whacked! I truly believe people voted for Obama because he is black. Why? What does that have to do with anything? We vote so that the best person enters the office and does whats best for the country. We do not vote on race. So pulling out that card is ridiculous. If those who voted for obama would have researched him a little more they would have been terrified. So you grow up and read something about your candidate and stop accusing us of prejudice.

Now is the time for all real patriots, all real lovers of this country to come together and work to heal this land. We are reaching out to you, do not miss the chance to be part of something great. A majority of Americans judged this man fit to lead us. Give him a chance to prove your doubts wrong.

This sound just like fascism to me. The American people got this one wrong and I will not say I told you so in 4 years when everyone regrets this choice. You want socialism then we are getting one step closer to it. Good bye Democracy!
