You can take your status of forces agreement and …

I am so tired of the Bush administration. Just when I thought they would go away…just go away…they raise their ugly heads and commit more havoc. Wasn’t it just yesterday they were trying to weaken environmental protection regulations? Now we have this Status of Forces Agreement. The Bush administration has been working on this agreement for about a year. This is the agreement that would allow American troops to stay in Iraq because the UN mandate runs out in December.

President Bush and his snarling minions have stated time and time again that they would never agree to a timeline. If ever a timeline was set down, Al Qaeda would wait out the timeline and then havoc would reign. It appears now that the Bush administration has just agreed to a timeline. 2011. All of our troops out by 2011.

Here’s the most tiresome part of this whole story. As far as I know, no one on this side of the Atlantic has seen an English version of this agreement. Why not? Because, in my opinion, the Bush administration has no desire for us to look at the fine details. The President’s spokesperson Dana Perino has called this a VICTORY. Really? Our troops are to be answering to the Iraqis!? That’s not my definition of victory.

  1. SOFA is not binding on the US unless Congress approves it.

We need a full and rapid withdrawal from Iraq during the first few weeks of the incoming Obama administration. The war on Iraq is bankrupting our economy.
