What’s going on – News Roundup

- President Barack Obama is giving the State of the Union Address, which is not really a State of the Union. There is a lot of discussion about what he might say. Language Guru George Lakoff has a good post on DK about Obama’s progressive code.
- Six weeks ago, the smartest guy in Washington DC seemed to be Ronald Burris. That was then. Now, Burris doesn’t seem so smart. He actually seems kind of stupid since everyone, except the Pope, including Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, has asked him to resign. What a moron!!
- Congresswoman Hilda Solis has been confirmed by the Senate as the new Labor Secretary.
- Could the great Arnold Schwarzenegger be considering leaving (Hasta la vista, baby) the Republican party? No way.

- Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is the latest great hope for the Republican party. I have had a number of Republicans let me know that 2012 Jindal will be smacking down Obama. Jindal is the governor of one of the most backwards states in US. If he can figure out how to get Louisiana out of the mud and on her feet then that would be a feat that the rest of the country should take note of. Governor Jindal will be giving the Repubican response tonight. Look for him to embrace NOT the American people but big business like all of the other Republicans over the last 30 years. He will talk about how Republicans need to come up with new ideas but will not have any to offer. I don’t know this for a fact. I’m just guessing, because this is exactly what Republicans have been saying over the last four years.
- You know the economy is bad when Mickey Mouse is hurting. Orlando is hurting. Mickey is laying off workers.

Well, got to make a comment about Rollin Burris…and I am a White guy…there are a few good Black men out there that I will support; Burris is one and has yet to be found guilty of anything. I think he should play this thing out and not resign. Perhaps Durbin was show boating and that’s wrong.
Heck I don’t even know if Burris is guilty of anything, all this stuff is a bunch allegations which is the result of routine stuff done in politics while sensationalized in the cable media.
From my view Burris is not being reported on he is being publically prosecuted on national cable, and hate radio especially Limbaugh, and by MSNBC, Morning Joe Scarbough. Due process is in order and if Burris comes out clean I hope he sues the heck out the media.
Just like Blagojevich, who knows what happened? Heck if you compare him in the same time frame as Bush being Governor of Texas there is a huge piece of corruption in comparison in terms of pay for play.
Governor Bush was wading in cash that was never covered by the mainstream media especially MSNBC.
A good example of the tires to big business that just slipped away is illustrated in a book by Charles Lewis in The Buying of the President 2004 or who really bank rolled Bush and what they expected in return.
Talk about huge friendships with huge money ties that are just ignored. Especially the ties to ENRON could make one vomit. The whole story exposes the bias and favoritism for Bush by major media.
The Bush family is disgusting, heaped in corruption, deceit and secret profiteering along with secret pay for play that makes Blagojevich look like a boy scout.
No one has the courage to call Bush and Company out on the crimes commited and that is the problem in America. If Obama can not do it there will not be too much of a moment to cheer about.
If this is time to take responsiblity and address what needs to be done, it is time to address the pirates and crime that propelled the profiteering in war and the banking rip off that got America to this crisis. Bush is the key player in this crime.
Everything is ass backwards Bush should be in shakles in an orange suit before congress listening to his indictment and conviction. Burris and Blagojevich are boy scouts compared to Bush and Company.
