where did I say anything about increasing or changing the taxes that we currently pay? There is no need to increase taxes. We have enough money to do this.

Before the nation adopts MA's 'universal healthcare' a number kinks need to be worked out. First and foremost, the policy of heavily taxing the uninsured overlooks the cause of their lack of insurance. I was covered by my employer's plan until the boss started bouncing checks to the provider. I was taxed almost $1,000 for failure to procure health insurance. I had no idea I wasn't covered, and my employer faced no fine, no punishment! Second, health insurance companies rarely provide coverage starting on any day other than the 1st of the month. If you leave one job at the end of the month, and don't start the new one for a couple weeks, you will be fined on your MA return for those two weeks. The April 09 tax penalty for tax year 08 was $1017 per month (any one day counts as a month). How is this helpful to Americans? Rather than rail on the plan, I prefer to highlight these problems that need to be fixed in order for the plan to be better for America.
PurplePlease.net is about not siding with Red State or Blue State, but finding what's best for us all. Go Purple!
