Cheney opens mouth and inserts his foot

I’m growing tired of former Vice President Dick Cheney coming out of his “undisclosed location” to take a swipe at the president. If he has something truly new to say, I think the former vice president should say it. I know this is a free country, and he can say whatever he wants. But the press is not obligated to cover it. This is my beef. The press covers every utterance of Vice President Cheney as if it were new news. Question: who would’ve guessed that Vice President Cheney disagrees with the White House policy on Afghanistan? Anyone?

More later.

Well when GWB was elected, Al Gore didn’t sit down for 8 years and shut up, did he?

The press trumpeted his every utterance on ‘global warming’ even as it became clear that he was willing to wildly exaggerate to get attention to his pet project.

(The only thing that didn’t get a lot of press was how much money Gore had invested in ‘green’ companies that were poised to make a killing if he could influence the country to pass the legislation he wanted.)

Currently, most of the planets (and some of the moons) in our solar system show evidence of ‘warming’. I wonder what we did to cause all that.

    :)

Yes, he did. Gore didn’t make a public appearance for over a year. It was 2003 – 2004 before he even spoke out against the war in Iraq.

As far as global warming, you are playing with words and stretching the truth. If you like the phrase global warming, how about climate change secondary to human use of combustible materials. Is that better?

There seems to be a lot of material suggesting that we make a significant impact on the Earth. I’m sure that you saw the 9/11 study. Yep, those damn scientists studied the temperature change in the US from 9/8 – 9/11 and from 9/11 – 14. Remember there were no planes flying during the later period. There was a greater difference between the daytime and nighttime temps during the later period. It was probably a statistical fluke. Then, I’m sure you read the study about scientists taking core samples of ice in the Antarctic and studying the levels of carbon dioxide in the ice. They found that carbon dioxide levels are higher now than ever before. Then there are hundreds of studies that I have never read nor seen which are all pointing in the same direction. If you’d like to read some of them they are referenced here and this consensus report. Then again you might just want to read a short opinion piece by scientist whose work in this field for decades.

These guys have done good work. To deny their work is to not believe in atoms, protons and neutrons. To deny their work, since they used the same scientific method that Newton used, is to deny the existence of gravity.

I am stretching the truth? How so?

I stated that most of the planets in our solar system (and some of the moons) show evidence of ‘warming’.

    And they do.

What evidence do you have that they do not?
