I’m a bad movie “buff.” I have tried on a number of occasions to watch This is Spinal Tap and I just can’t get thru the first 30 minutes. I’m having the same problem with SuperBad which I have been told is a “great” comedy.

Looks like I’m going to have to add SouthPark to my list. I’ll try and see it soon.

Now, you have caused me to increase my list of movies that I need to see. I haven’t seen How to Murder Your Wife, Snatch or Death to Smooche.

Who framed Roger Rabbit is a GREAT film. Very, very funny. I need to compile a master list and this film will be on it.

Robin Williams…. well I’m not much of a fan except I was awed by his performance in Awakenings.

Adding my two cents, I’d say, in no particular order: ‘Monty Python & The Holy Grail’, ‘Office Space’, ‘Blazing Saddles’, ‘National Lampoons Vacation’ and an obscure John Ritter film called ‘Skin Deep’. In ‘Skin Deep’, the after effects of a shock treatment scene makes the whole film worth it.

I definitely agree with Caddyshack and Blazing Saddles. Funniest comedies of all time implies a certain timelessness. I think that satires don’t hold up well over time compared to slapstick. Blazing Saddle is the exception. I would add these others in no particular order.
1. Animal House: Lots of imitators but none come close

2. Ghostbusters (unlike Arthur and The Pink Panther it at least had sequels that didn’t totally stink).

3. It’s A Mad, Mad Mad World (The bully slipping on a banana peel will always get a laugh).

4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (too many funny moments to forget)

5. The Hangover (familiarity breeds contempt but I think that it’s the best raunchy comedy that I’ve seen in years)

BTW: Usually, certain actors like (Murray, Belushi ) or directors (Brooks) lead my memory to a certain movie. I thought about Robin Williams. Has he done anything funny since Mork and Mindy?
Loved the Princess Bride.

I haven’t seen the 1925 Seven Chances. I did see the The Kid in film class in college. GREAT movie. I like your list. Very very nice.
