Healthcare reform passes the House

By a vote of 219-212, the House of Representatives has passed health-care reform. This brings almost universal coverage to the United States. President Obama praised Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, along with many others, for getting this bill through.

Representative John Boehner could not help himself. He was the one who earlier called for decorum. Of course, he was the one who breached it. In a last-ditch effort, he tried to stir up the passion of doubt and those wavering Democrats. I think you’re being more than disingenuous when he suggested there were backroom deals in a bill that has been available on the Internet for months. He couldn’t resist bringing up publicly funded abortions. Who is surprised?

So, after the Senate passes this legislation, which is not a done deal, what can the American people expect? Unfortunately, the answer is not clear. No matter how great legislation is, it is the implementation of that legislation that will determine the impact on Americans. It is up to the Department of Health and Human services. Overall, I think that this is going to be an excellent piece of legislation for all Americans.

I am just glad it is over with. So now maybe we can see what is really in this thing and the congress still can adjust where it is needed. It can always be adjusted that is where the Republicans should come in and write bills to alter the parts they hated and get their backers behind it and see if it passes. But I am sure they will just go and sulk and blame everything on someone else.

    Great is your faith.

You admit that you have no idea how it will really impact Americans, but you join the chorus of Blind Faith Cheerleaders and proclaim it is an 'excellent' piece of legislation.

The bar you have set for excellence is mighty low, friend.

Why don't you simply admit that it was pure partisanship than motivated your support of it's passage, since you have repeatedly said that the bill didn't contain the policies you favored?

You put party ahead of your own principles and you put party ahead of your neighbors well being.

You gambled on a shot in the dark, and after pulling the trigger you admit 'I don't know what it'll hit'.

Why don't I admit it? Because I wanted universal healthcare, i have admit that I'm partisan. Nonsense. I have said multiple times, I want everybody covered. This covers more people than ever before. This is better than what we had before.

Was it a gamble? Sure, every time someone sticks their neck out to do anything it is a gamble. You wanted some piece of nothing that would have played around the edges. You have admitted this. Cool. I wanted universal coverage which would have helped doctors, hospitals, nurses, and most importantly patients. I got some Congressional compromise which is milk toast. Right now, I'm hungry and milk toast tastes pretty good.

I have talked about the mandates before. Yet, you continue to harp on it – time and time again. There is no way for the exchanges to have any power if nobody joins. You, of course, will jump on this as a sign that nobody likes it. It couldn't be that it isn't clear of how to sign up. Or the process is confusing, etc. The bottom line is if you want to set up a that truly competes with private insurance you have to have a mandate.
